  • Do I want to sell a house I don’t even own? Sure!

Context: 10 years ago I moved from one state to another. I never changed my phone number so my area code still matches the state I left.
  • Sometimes I will get spam calls from people thinking I still live there.

  • How it started: A couple years ago I started getting calls from a realtor asking if I was interested in selling my property in my previous state.

  • The problem was I did not own any properties in that state. I cleared up the confusion, the realtor thanked me for letting them know, and I figured that was that.

  • Oh how wrong I was. The realtor continued to bombard me with calls, leaving me voicemails asking if I was interested in selling that same

  • Well, not quite. I continued to get texts and calls until one day I decided the only way they would learn is through consequences.

  • The day I took action: So I see the d In realtor is calling me AGAIN. I'm sick of it at this point because she will not give up. So I answered. Told

  • her that her timing was crazy because I was looking to sell that property immediately. She excitedly asks if we can meet at the property. I ask her if right then works. She tells

  • me she will be there in 10 minutes. I told her I would arrive in 15 minutes.

  • The timeline: In 10ish minutes I get a text saying she has arrived. I tell her I'll be there in 6 minutes. 10 minutes later she reaches out to check on

  • me. I tell her there's traffic, an accident, and start giving her updates where I am, naming certain streets and freeway exits (note: I knew generally where the property was so I

  • was able to name surrounding schools, streets, stores, etc). She calls me about 30 minutes in to see if I'd like to reschedule. I tell her no, and ask her to wait to which she

  • The aftermath: After almost an hour of her waiting around she calls me again to see if I would like to reschedule. That's when I tell her not only do I not live in that state

  • anymore, I don't even own the property. She becomes. FURIOUS. She yells at me that I wasted her time. I told her that I had already told her this

  • twice, yet she continued to blow up my phone for months and that she only had herself to blame.

  • The result: She never reached out to me again.
